Sins (Part 5 of 5)

With Viktor and Mirage's data, I was able to complete my projects. The scripts of my seven sins became full-fledged programs, and more than that, they became like my own children.

I sat with them and told my story. How I met Viktor, how I fought against the admin Mirage to defend them, and how I returned with them to the network and brought them to life.

"I'm your favorite!" Pride argued. "You made me first. Right?"

Envy stuck her tongue out. "Clearly I am her favorite because I'm the most beautiful."

"Stop fighting over this nonsense. You're killing my vibe," Wrath said, turning red.

"Yes, you were all created as equals," I told them.

Gluttony rolled around on the floor, growling. "Is it time for dinner yet?"

"You have no shame Glut," Pride said.

"Shame? What's that?" Sloth chimed in. "Sounds boring. I don't like it."

Pride agreed. "You're right. Screw shame!"

I couldn't help but laugh. "Shame is the necessary evil to contradict one's arrogance. Pride, you should know this. It's written in your script."

"Not to mention humiliation," Lust said. "Shame and humiliation . . . sigh, it's quite depressing."

"I say disregard all that. Just indulge in what makes you happy . . . like money!" Greed said, teasing Lust.

Wrath was turning redder. "You sound so damn ignorant. What the hell is wrong with you guys?"

"Now, now. Let's all relax. Today is a big day," I said. "You guys are going to have a new little sister."

"Yawn. It's too crowded here already. I don't have the energy for this," Sloth remarked, turning over on his stomach.

Pride sneered. "Either way, I'm still the favorite."

"You keep thinking that," Envy said with a roll of her eyes. "So, who's the newbie?"

I thought about it for a moment. My eighth sin--the one who represents the disease. I could think of only one name for this.

"I'll name her Mirage. Mirage.exe."

So it was. A new network is created, a place where all programs have free will. A home for us, where we are not judged but have the freedom to choose which vices and which acts of grace we indulge: CHARLOTTE'S NET
